We recently started Foodie Friday’s in our Sioux City office. This month Skip Perley, President/CEO, Barney Pottebaum, General Manager of Thompson Electric Sioux City, Jason Glover, General Manager of Thompson Automation and Specialty Services and Tasha Barker, General Manager of Electric Innovations created a St. Patrick’s lunch that included corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and a meatless stew.
Each month volunteers will work together to plan, prep and cook a meal for at least 60 people. This gives everyone the opportunity to get to know each other, work together and have fun!
This was the first of many Foodie Friday’s, it was a great celebration of 5 years in our awesome location. This start of a new tradition will bring all of the companies together for an amazing meal. It also brings excitement for what the future has in store for all of the companies.
We are excited for the next Foodie Friday!
Thompson Electric in Omaha is on the move. Having out grown their existing facility, they had the need for more office space, as well as, more prefabrication space. The search was on to find a building that would support both those needs. After an extensive search, an existing building was found, in Omaha which will provide the much needed space. The new location will provide an additional 9,000 sq. ft. of space, as well as, an easier location to find.
The new space is needed as a result of growth in the Omaha office. The Omaha office has seen significant growth the last couple of years and is planning on continuing this growth. As this growth continues, more office and field staff will be required, as well as, a larger prefab shop.
This is an exciting time for Thompson Electric, as we continue to grow. Our employees are a big reason why we have this growth, by developing relationships and then performing excellent work for our clients. Team work is what generates this growth and Thompson Electric has a great team.
Yesterday, TEC Corp, Thompson Electric and Electric Innovations in Sioux City had a very special guest, Governor Terry Branstad of Iowa. The Governor stopped by to visit with CEO, Skip Perley and to also tour our office. While here, he also took time to meet some of the TEC Corp, Thompson Electric and Electric Innovations employees.
Trivial pursuit question – Who is Iowa’s and the United States longest serving Governor? Governor Branstad is Iowa’s longest serving Governor and will become the longest serving Governor in US history, in 2016. At the end of his sixth term as Governor, Governor Branstad will have served Iowa for over 24 years.
Whether you follow politics or not, it always exciting to meet a sitting Governor. It’s easy to become intimidated by their presence, but after you meet him, you realize he’s just like you and me.
Next time you are driving by the Thompson Electric office in Sioux City, look atop the office and you’ll see we are continuing in the Christmas spirit. We have a new Christmas decoration on top of the 4th floor penthouse, a brightly lit, 12 ft. Christmas tree.
This Christmas tree represents the Christmas spirit of the Thompson Electric’s employees in all of our office locations.
So take a drive by the office in the evening and enjoy the brightly lit Christmas tree.
Today is the first day of Hanukkah. To all of our Jewish friends, we wish you a Happy Hanukkah.
Jewish communities in the United States celebrate the first day of Hanukkah on the 25th day of the month of Kislev in the Jewish calendar. The Hanukkah period lasts for eight days and is celebrated from the 25th day of Kislev to the second day of Tevet. The first night of Hanukkah (or Chanukah) starts with special blessings at sunset the day before the 25th of Kislev. Many Jewish people light the menorah, also known as the hanukiah (or chanukkiyah), which is a type of candelabrum.
